SPYBA LEAGUE UMPIRES NEEDED

Are you or a family member or older SPYBA player Interested in Umpiring?  We need interested people to assist in Umpiring for our leagues (9-15). This is a PAID opportunity and a great way to help SPYBA.  We depend on SPYBA players of 13-15U age groups, adults, parents, and former players to help make our league run.

We also use Umpires from this pool who are qualified and show ability to Umpire for our home travel tournaments. If you have interest in this please complete this form and note as such when the question appears asking for your interest in Umpiring Travel. Preference may be given to licensed WIAA Umpires for some of our older leagues in these situations.

Training opportunities will be available to assist you in getting started along with Rule Books. This will be conducted at a mandatory Umpire meeting / clinic. The date / time of this meeting / clinic will be determined once the league schedule has been made and will be communicated to all interested persons.

Please contact Chuck Kania for questions and more information crkania@gmail.com

SPYBA Mission Statement

To provide opportunities for the growth and development of young athletes in our community through a focus on fundamental athletic skills, cooperative spirit, good sportsmanship and hard lessons through both successes and failures through the sport of baseball.

SPYBA Philosophy of Operation

The Stevens Point Youth Baseball Association (SPYBA) is a recreation and travel league open to all boys and girls within the age limits determined by the National Babe Ruth Association  living in the Stevens Point area. The primary objective of our leagues is to promote the fun and fair play of baseball. Fundamental skills, safety, sportsmanship, teamwork and honesty are emphasized at every level of play. Winning is not emphasized in our recreational leagues. Opportunities for more competitive play are offered via our Tournament Teams. Coaches, umpires, and parents should all act as role models and understand the importance of participation in youth baseball.
